Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Northampton Veterinary Clinic

Northampton Veterinary Clinic is an award-winning, 7‑doctor practice in the heart of western Massachusetts. We serve a dedicated client base that cares for their pets like children. A collaborative doctor team enables constant learning and adaptation, fundamental to practicing excellence in veterinary medicine.

Students will work closely with supervising DVMs to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting surgical procedures, and managing patient medical care. They will also practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Externship experiences range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules.

The program is available to 3rd and 4th year veterinary students.

Students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
