KITCHEN ASSISTANT

Pay: £13.00 per hour PAYE | £16.34 per hour Umbrella

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for Kitchen Assistants to support a range of clients across the UK on an ad-hoc basis. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking for flexible temporary work, additional shifts alongside existing commitments, or the opportunity to gain experience within different catering environments.
About YouWe are looking for reliable, hardworking and adaptable Kitchen Assistants who can quickly settle into different kitchen environments and support the wider team.
Key Responsibilities- Assist chefs and kitchen staff with food preparation and general kitchen duties.
- Prepare ingredients including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning food.
- Assist with the preparation and service of meals.
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
- Clean work surfaces, floors and food preparation areas.
- Follow food hygiene, HACCP and health & safety procedures .
- Ensure food is stored correctly and safely.
- Assist with receiving, storing and rotating food deliveries.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages where required.
- Support with setting up and clearing down dining and service areas.
- Dispose of food waste appropriately.
- Work effectively as part of a busy kitchen team.
- Undertake other reasonable kitchen duties as required.
- Previous experience within a kitchen, catering, hospitality or food service environment is desirable.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and safe working practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy environment.
- Good standards of cleanliness and personal hygiene.
- Reliable and punctual with a flexible approach to work.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Food Hygiene / Food Safety qualification.
- Previous experience within care, healthcare, schools, residential, hospitality or public-sector catering.
- Previous experience working in a high-volume kitchen.
