Purpose

of the role

As a Business Development Manager, your key responsibility will be to drive revenue growth and profitability by effectively executing the sales process. This will involve identifying and developing new business opportunities, as well as nurturing relationships with existing customers, within a designated geographic territory. Your efforts will be aligned with Dachser’s strategic business objectives to ensure sustainable success.

Responsibilities
  • Proactively identify and develop a steady pipeline of potential customers, meeting or exceeding sales quotas through prospecting, networking, and referrals within the regional market.
  • Cold call businesses to maximise sales opportunities and expand the customer base.
  • Prepare tailored price offers and solutions for clients to meet their specific needs.
  • Focus on achieving monthly and annual sales targets, ensuring consistent growth and performance.
  • Accurately log all sales activities and outcomes using the Dachser CRM system.
  • Generate monthly sales reports to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Build strategic relationships with key decision‑makers within customer organisations to identify opportunities and create value.
  • Establish strong relationships with strategic customers who have decision‑making authority or influence.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the customer’s business model, allowing you to offer tailored solutions that align with their needs.
  • Propose and sell logistics solutions, leveraging Dachser’s products and services to convert opportunities into closed business deals.
  • Maintain a culture of integrity and professionalism, applying value‑based selling strategies to all sales engagements.
  • Identify and explore opportunities for customer growth, ensuring long‑term success.
  • Facilitate regular client meetings and collaborate with operations teams to review performance, address challenges, and plan for the future.
  • Cross‑sell and up‑sell within the existing customer base to maximise account potential, offering services across airfreight, sea freight, road freight, value‑added products, and contract logistics.
The ideal candidate will have
  • Commercial and financial acumen, with a strong understanding of business drivers and profitability.
  • Ability to influence and impact individuals at all levels within the organisation, fostering collaboration and alignment.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to engage with people across all functions, both verbally and in writing.
  • Active listening skills, ensuring a thorough understanding of customer needs and internal requirements.
  • Team management experience, with a focus on motivation and achieving results.
  • Resilience under pressure, able to maintain performance in challenging situations.
  • Proven sales success, with in‑depth knowledge of sales concepts, methods, and techniques.
  • Experience in developing sales strategies, analysing the profitability of prospects, and managing competitive risks associated with accounts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to persuade, negotiate, and make formal presentations in meetings and training environments.
  • Effective time management, ensuring priorities are met and deadlines are achieved.
  • Proven B2B sales experience within the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a sales role, with a demonstrated track record of success.
  • Project management skills and experience, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives effectively.
