Northern Commercials, a well-established business with over 50 years of success and now part of a thriving plc group, is seeking a driven and customer-focused Business Development Executive to join our Northampton depot. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role within our Commercial Vehicle Service team, where you’ll take ownership of both new and existing customer relationships, ensuring exceptional service while identifying opportunities for growth.
Working closely with the Depot Manager and internal teams, you’ll manage customer queries, oversee contracts, and act as a trusted point of contact through regular communication and visits.

This is a full time, permanent position working 40 hours contracted per week, Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:00 (with flexibility for business needs).
Pay, benefits and moreWe’re looking to offer a salary of up to £35,000 per annum and 20 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package also includes a company car, pension and much more!
What you’ll do on a typical day- Own the detail by supporting the Depot Manager while handling customer queries and managing R&M contracts end-to-end
- Be the voice of the business, building relationships through calls, emails, and face‑to‑face customer visits
- Manage & grow accounts, commercially focused with looking after both new and existing customers with a proactive approach
- Keep everything moving, by working with internal teams to ensure customers are always up to date on their vehicles
- Bring energy & organisation, using your communication skills, IT knowledge, and automotive experience (Kerridge a bonus!) to stay ahead
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management
- Strong track record of winning new business and growing existing accounts
- Experience building and maintaining long‑term client relationships
- Confident in customer‑face situations, including meetings, presentations, and negotiations
- Ability to identify opportunities and drive revenue growth
