We’re pleased to have been awarded a temporary-on-going contract to provide manned guarding services at St John’s House, an accommodation facility supporting people experiencing homelessness in Northampton.
We are looking for professional, approachable and confident Security Officers who can provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff. This is a rewarding role where communication, empathy and professionalism are just as important as your security experience.
The RoleAs a Security Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the site while building positive working relationships with residents and partner agencies. You will be expected to deal with challenging situations calmly, professionally and with respect.
- Carrying out bag searches to prevent prohibited items, including alcohol and illegal drugs, from entering the premises
- Controlling access and egress, ensuring all visitors, contractors and residents are correctly recorded
- Conducting regular internal and external patrols of the building and surrounding areas
- Maintaining the security of doors, gates and access points
- Providing a highly visible and professional security presence
- Responding appropriately to incidents, disputes and emergencies, using conflict management and de-escalation techniques where appropriate
- Completing accurate incident reports, occurrence logs and handover records
- Liaising with our Control Room, emergency services and the client’s management team when required
- Supporting the client in maintaining a safe environment for everyone on site

- Nights: 18:00 – 06:00
- Valid SIA Licence (Security Guarding, Door Supervision or Close Protection)
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Full 5-year checkable employment and education history
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- Reliable, punctual and capable of working independently
- A compassionate, respectful and non-judgemental approach when dealing with vulnerable people
- Previous experience in security, supported housing, healthcare or customer service would be advantageous, although not essential
- £14.45 per hour
- National Living Wage Employer, always paying above the legal minimum
- Enhanced pay for Bank Holidays and Christmas Day
- £100 annual service bonus on each employment anniversary
