As an Explosives Detection Dog Handler with Securitas, you ll become part of a specialist team delivering critical aviation security services. Working with a highly trained canine partner, you ll help protect passengers, cargo and aviation assets by preventing terrorist and criminal activity.

About the Role
As an Explosives Detection Dog Handler (FREDDs), you will deliver an explosives detection screening capability within the aviation sector as part of Securitas Protective Specialist Services. You will deliver a service in line with UK legislation, Dept for Transport regulations, Civil Aviation Authority and Securitas procedures to counter terrorist and/or criminal activity relating to aviation activities.
Job DescriptionYour Responsibilities
- Screening cargo in accordance with UK regulations using technical and canine detection methods
- Maintaining the operational capability of the FREDDs
- Conducting both on-the-job and continuation training
- Deploying in support of wider business operations when required
- Producing and maintaining all training records, maintaining rigid and documented control of training aids
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with animals under your control
- Recording all events and incidents and managing customer requests through to satisfactory resolution
- Leading on Health & Safety matters relating to the task and ensuring site compliance with all applicable regulations (including maintenance of British Standards, ACS requirements and Canine SOPs)
- Demonstrating the Securitas values of Integrity, Vigilance and Helpfulness
Please Note:

- Right to work in the UK with a 5-year checkable history
- Valid UK Driving Licence (clean licence with no endorsements)
- Ability to live within a 45 - 50-minute commute of site
- Ability to home kennel your Securitas-provided working dog
- Previous canine experience working with and training dogs, ideally within detection capabilities
- The ability to monitor canine health and administer necessary care
- Strong observation skills, attention to detail, with good written and verbal communication skills
- A positive attitude and genuine love of dogs
- The ability to work effectively within a professional team environment
It would be advantageous if you have:
- Qualified Security Dog Handler certification (any discipline)
- Previous experience within the aviation sector
