Logix Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Road Freight Operator on behalf of a well-established and growing logistics business based in Northampton.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and customer-focused freight professional with strong European road freight experience, particularly within pharmaceuticals, to join a busy and supportive operations team.
The Role
As a Road Freight Operator, you will be responsible for planning and managing the distribution of pallets and freight to destinations across the UK and worldwide. You’ll play a key role in ensuring shipments are handled efficiently, compliantly, and with exceptional customer service.
You will report directly to the Operations Supervisor / Branch Manager and work closely with both internal teams and international partners.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Duties
* Arranging movement of freight from origin to destination (UK & International)
* Managing European Groupage and FTL services
* Providing regular shipment updates to customers
* Liaising with customers, overseas partners, and suppliers
* Ensuring smooth coordination of time-sensitive pharmaceutical shipments
Administration
* Using the freight management system to input and manage jobs
* Manually calculating costs and charges accurately
Customer & Team Collaboration
* Maintaining high levels of customer service at all times
* Working collaboratively with colleagues across departments
* Communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels
Compliance & Health & Safety
* Adhering to company compliance policies and procedures
* Maintaining awareness of Health & Safety responsibilities
* Reporting hazards and ensuring safe working practices
About You
Essential Requirements
* Strong understanding of European Road Freight operations
* Ability to manually calculate freight costs and charges
* Excellent customer service skills
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Desirable
* Experience with customs documentation
* Full UK driving licence
* Experience with in the pharmaceutical sector
