Job Description

We're looking for a Drainage Operative to join our Transportation team based in Northamptonshire. The role is permanent, full time, 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday 06:00 to 15:30, located in Brixworth, Northampton. Salary: £31,636.80 plus overtime and call out. Responsibilities
  • Drive and operate a gully truck to carry out scheduled and reactive drainage maintenance.
  • Clean and maintain highway drainage systems, including gully pots, ACO channels, culverts, and interceptors.
  • Use high-pressure jetting equipment to clear blockages and ensure free‑flowing drainage.
  • Record completed works using handheld devices.
  • Support emergency response operations during adverse weather or flooding events.
Requirements
  • Experience operating high‑pressure jetting equipment or similar vehicles.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Effective communication with team and public, and adherence to safety procedures.
  • UK driving licence and class 2 HGV licence.
  • Transferable skills are welcomed; incomplete qualifications may still be considered.
