Transport administrator (4839) – Northampton, England

Salary: GBP 14 per hour

Shift: 18:00–06:00 (4 on 4 off)

We are looking for an experienced night transport administrator. This is an ongoing role with potential for a permanent position.

Responsibilities
  • Proactively plan the daily transport schedule to ensure all customer requirements are met.
  • Complete daily checks to ensure that the daily transport schedule is adequately resourced.
  • Fully brief drivers prior to dispatch to ensure they understand their route and the requirements of the route, and fully debrief every driver on their return to assess compliance and report any exceptions to your manager.
  • Ensure that every route is tracked via the tracking systems. Any exceptions or faults are reported to your manager, ensuring the accurate recording of all data entry including tachograph and route scheduling documents.
  • Ensure that all PODs are returned, completed and accurate for every trip that requires them.
  • All daily reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner as directed by the transport manager.
  • Ensure that yard checks are completed as directed by the transport manager.
  • Accurate and timely reporting on driver’s attendance, absence and performance.
  • Respond appropriately to all client queries as required.
  • Detail and complete handover to the management team and your colleagues on a shift-by-shift basis.
Required skills, knowledge and experience
  • Good, working knowledge of transport and logistics.
  • Reliable (high attendance and good timekeeping).
  • Assist with general duties within the transport function.
  • Highly flexible.
  • Works safely and follows Health & Safety and site rules.
  • Ability to work under own initiative.
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to a rapidly changing fast‑paced environment.
  • Good organisational and planning skills.
  • Knowledge of health & safety requirements.
  • Computer literate, experience of WMS systems and MS Office packages.
