Team Leader, Warehouse

Pertemps Northampton is recruiting a Team Leader for a distribution firm in Northampton, paying £14.50 per hour on a full‑time, temp‑to‑perm contract. Working hours are 06:00 to 16:00, with flexibility required. This role involves overseeing daily yard operations, allocating tasks to staff, and managing stock control to ensure an efficient workflow. Strong organisational abilities are essential, particularly during peak winter periods when pressure increases.

The position suits a hands‑on professional who can maintain order and align activities with business requirements. Previous supervisory experience within a warehouse or yard setting is advantageous. This contract offers a pathway to permanent employment for the right candidate.

• Organise, oversee, and allocate work to yard staff.
• Manage stock control and inventory levels.
• Carry out basic maintenance on machinery (e.g., forklifts, loading shovels, pre‑packing equipment).
• Prepare product for upcoming deliveries (bagging, wrapping, etc.).
• Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Maintain regular communication with the office regarding stock deliveries, workload planning, and operational updates.
• Support forward planning and address operational issues as they arise.

• Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (essential).
• Loading Shovel Licence (desirable but not essential).
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment.
• Proactive, hands‑on approach with a willingness to lead by example.
• Team Leader experience beneficial but not essential; right attitude and leadership potential are key.

Standard hours: 06:00 – 16:00 (may vary depending on business needs). Saturday working required on a rota basis during winter (peak season). Flexibility is essential, particularly during busy periods. Due to peak demand, holiday is typically restricted during winter months.
