Role Description

The Plant Controller is a full-time, on-site role located in North Bay, ON, responsible for overseeing all plant-level financial activities and ensuring accurate, timely reporting. This role manages daily accounting operations, including tracking production costs, monitoring budgets, and preparing financial statements for plant management. The Plant Controller supports decision-making by analyzing financial performance, identifying variances, and recommending actions to improve efficiency and profitability.

Day-to-day tasks include maintaining fixed asset records, coordinating month-end close, supporting audits, and collaborating with operations and leadership on forecasts, capital projects, and cost-control initiatives. The role also ensures compliance with internal controls, company policies, and relevant financial regulations.

Qualifications
  • Strong finance and accounting foundation, including experience with Finance and Financial Statements.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing-related Cost Accounting with the ability to analyze production costs and variances.
  • Experience managing Fixed Assets, including tracking, capitalization, depreciation, and reconciliation.
  • Advanced Analytical Skills with proficiency in interpreting financial data and preparing clear reports and recommendations.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, as well as solid skills in Excel and other spreadsheet tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional designation (CPA or equivalent) is an asset.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial plant environment is preferred, with familiarity in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Strong attention to detail, integrity, and ability to work collaboratively with operations, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
