EO– Civil Construction Skilled Labourer

Key Responsibilities

• Perform skilled labour tasks related to civil construction, including trenching, grading, pipe installation, and back filling
• Assist with installation of underground utilities (water, sewer, storm systems)
• Set up and use grade stakes, laser levels, and measuring tools
• Work alongside equipment operators during excavation and site preparation
• Install and compact gravel, asphalt, and other materials
• Perform concrete work such as forming, pouring, and finishing (curbs, sidewalks, etc.)
• Direct traffic and ensure safe work zones when required
• Load, unload, and move materials, tools, and equipment
• Conduct site clean-up and maintain a safe, organized work environment
• Identify and report hazards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations
• Follow project plans, drawings, and supervisor instructions

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proven experience in civil or heavy construction
• Knowledge of underground utility installation and roadwork processes
• Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings and grade plans
• Valid driver’s license (required; DZ/AZ license is an asset in Ontario)

• Strong understanding of civil construction methods and materials
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, and small equipment (e.g., plate compactors, cut-off saws)
• Ability to work in trenches and around heavy machinery safely, outdoor work in all weather conditions
• Physical strength, stamina, and endurance
• Attention to detail, especially with grading and measurements, Strong safety awareness
• Teamwork and communication skills
• Physically demanding tasks, including lifting, digging, and prolonged standing
• Exposure to heavy equipment, noise, dust, and potentially hazardous conditions
• May require travel to different job sites
