At the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario, we’re looking for enthusiastic Early Learning Facilitators who bring heart, creativity, and professionalism to their work every day. As an Early Learning Facilitator, you’ll be a key part of a dynamic team that supports children’s development through play-based learning, meaningful relationships, and a commitment to health and safety.
These Part‑Time positions within the Association are at various locations throughout the City of North Bay
.
Under the leadership of the Supervisor of Child, Youth and Family Development (CYFD), the Early Learning Facilitator is responsible for the health, safety and well‑being of the children in their care (0 to 12 years). The Early Learning Facilitator will ensure all YMCA Policies, Procedures and legislations as outlined in the Ministry of Education’s Child Care Early Year Act (2014) are compliant at all times.

RATE OF PAY: $21.17 per hour
* This position includes the Ministry of Education Wage Enhancement Grant (WEG) of up to an additional $2.00/hour for qualifying roles within a licensed child care program at the YMCA
HOURS: 20 hours per week
What You’ll Bring to the Role- Two-year diploma or degree related to children, youth, recreation or physical literacy
* for education completed outside of Canada, applicants are asked to submit an educational evaluation (WES, Icas, etc.) with their application - Minimum of two (2) years working with children and/or youth
- Membership with the College of Early Childhood Educators in good standing
- Current Standard First Aid with Infant and Child CPR (Level
C)
* Recognized by the WSIB - Solid knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Certification in YMCA Playing to Learn and Healthy Child Development is an asset
- Health Assessment from Medical Professional and Immunizations Record
- Flexible working hours, able to work split shifts, early morning, mid‑late afternoons, evenings Monday to Friday, weekends, or as per the centre’s operational hours
- Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with compassion, sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of everyone including visible and non‑visible dimensions of diversity
- Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
* dated within the last 6 months
- Provide attentive, compassionate supervision to ensure each child’s health, safety, and well‑being
- Keep accurate attendance records and conduct regular head counts - always know your numbers!
- Plan and deliver engaging educational programming using YMCA curricula:
- YMCA Playing to Learn™
- A Place to Connect™, Zen‑er‑gy™, and
- Healthy Childhood Development
- Track children’s development through documentation and open communication with families and community partners
- Follow YMCA policies and the Child Care & Early Years Act (CCEYA), along with guidelines from Public Health, Fire Department, and other agencies
- Conduct daily safety scans of indoor and outdoor spaces before and after programming
