Job Description

Position:
Professors (Part-Time) - Applied Soil Mechanics

Department: School of Trades & Technology – Civil Engineering Program

Location: Commerce Court Campus – North Bay, ON

Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a closely related discipline preferred; or Civil Engineering Technologist (CET) with extensive geotechnical experience (strong knowledge of: soil classification, compaction and consolidation, shear strength, bearing capacity, slope stability, Canadian geotechnical standards and practices). Field and laboratory testing expertise may be considered.
  • Previous post-secondary teaching experience informed by excellence with various learning theories and methods.
  • Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in a post-secondary setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in learning management systems, as well as the use of remote delivery and educational technologies.
  • Previous teaching experience is an asset.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to the Commerce Court Campus in North Bay, ON.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate effective learning related to CIV
    310 – Applied Soil Mechanics.
  • Work closely with students and colleagues to provide an optimal learning environment.
  • Perform all responsibilities associated with the learning environment including preparation, delivery, and evaluation of theory and practical learning activities.
