Senior Geotechnical Engineer

We are currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join a dynamic engineering environment working on large-scale infrastructure and resource-based projects.

About the Role

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on projects across Canada and internationally, supporting initiatives in mining, hydropower, and water infrastructure. This role offers a mix of technical design, field involvement, and leadership, with occasional travel required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead geotechnical components of projects (scope, budget, schedule)
  • Plan, oversee, and interpret site investigations and laboratory testing
  • Perform and review analyses (slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, liquefaction)
  • Design foundations, retaining structures, slopes, and ground improvement solutions
  • Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and recommendations
  • Identify geotechnical risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Support construction through site visits, reviews, and technical guidance
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to team development
  • Participate in client interactions and proposal support
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geological Engineering (Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering is an asset)
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada
  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering
  • Strong background in geotechnical design and project delivery
  • Experience with:
    • Site investigations and reporting
    • Foundation design and analysis
    • Earthworks, dams, or embankments
    • Tailings or water management systems
    • Construction monitoring and project coordination
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
