Job Title: Professor (Sessional) - Electrical Generation and Distribution
Department: School of Aviation and Aerospace Technology
Location: Aviation Campus – North Bay, ON
Contract Duration: August 24 – December 18, 2026
We are seeking a qualified and passionate Faculty to teach AMT
328:
Electrical Generation and Distribution .This is a system-level course focused on aircraft electrical power systems, including power generation, distribution, battery systems, motors, and associated safety and servicing procedures.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) – Category “E” (Avionics) or “M” or experience in the applicable specialty in order to meet curriculum delivery requirements
- Minimum 5 years of recent industry experience related to aircraft electrical systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of aircraft battery servicing, power distribution, and generation systems
- Experience with simulation or technology-enhanced learning
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, or equivalent, preferably in a college setting.
- Excellent record of teaching experience along with relevant work experience in the professional field or discipline appropriate to the area of instruction.
- Experience with a Learning Management System (e.g., Desire2
Learn, Blackboard, etc.), including the creation of discussion forums, tests, assignments, chat rooms, to edit and modify course content when required - Evidence of having maintained up-to-date knowledge and achievements in the field appropriate to the area of instruction
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to reliably commute to the Aviation Campus of Canadore College in North Bay, ON required
Responsibilities:
- Teach regularly scheduled classes and promote safe, inclusive, and engaging learning outcomes aligned with industry standards
- Deliver engaging and applied instruction, supporting students success and ensuring alignment with Canadian Aviation Regulation (CAR) 566 requirements
- Engage and support learners in mastering topics such as:
- Aircraft battery types (lead-acid, VRLA, Ni-Cd)
- DC and AC generation and distribution systems
- Circuit control and protection devices
- Electrical troubleshooting and load analysis
- Aircraft motors, inverters, and transformer rectifier units
- Work closely with students and colleagues to provide an optimal learning environment
- Perform all responsibilities associated with the learning environment including preparation, delivery, and evaluation of theory, and practical learning activities
