Boart Longyear is hiring for the role of CNC Machine Operator based in North Bay, Ontario. In this high-volume production environment, Boart Longyear is committed to high quality, safety, environmental and continuous improvement practices. • Read and interpret blueprints
• Setup CNC lathes according to the dimensions and tolerances specified by the blueprint
• Perform first-off inspection after setup, and perform quality checks routinely throughout a production run in order to maintain a high quality part using various measurement tools (Vernier caliper, gauges, shadow graph, visual)
• Operate CNC lathes performing various machining processes such as: drilling, turning, threading
• Maintain incoming/outgoing material from the machining cell
• Enter daily production into MES (manufacturing execution system)
• Perform pre-operational safety checks on equipment and within the work area, maintain housekeeping, data reporting, tool changes
• Use pins, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools and equipment as required
• Participate in Continuous Improvement measures
• Regard safety as a high priority
• Perform other tasks as required and assigned

• Knowledge of Fanuc and Okuma controls
• Blueprint reading
• Strong math skills
• Use of measuring tools
• Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment
• Experience working in a unionized environment
• Computer skills (Microsoft Office)

• Candidates must be able to adapt to 8-12 hour shifts
• Candidates must also be able to adapt to a 24/7 shift schedule

• College diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of related experience
