Registered Nurse - Acute Psychiatry Unit

Join the Acute Inpatient Psychiatry Unit at North Bay Regional Health Centre as a Registered Nurse. This role supports individuals in acute psychiatric distress with high-intensity nursing and multidisciplinary collaboration.

As a Registered Nurse on the AIPU team, you will provide essential psychiatric services in a dynamic environment. This position requires 1-2 years of mental health experience, knowledge of psychotropic medications, and the ability to perform thorough assessments. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and effective treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct mental health status and risk assessments

• Provide supportive patient-focused discharge planning

• Collaborate effectively with a diverse healthcare team

• Administer pharmacological and skill-building interventions

• Deliver health education to patients and families

Requirements:

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario

• BLS certification within the last twelve months

• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and major mental illnesses

• Bilingualism in English and French is required

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
