As part of the Mental Health and the Law Service, you will fill a critical nursing role that involves preventing and managing mental health issues in patients with legal conflicts. Strong forensic nursing knowledge, particularly in psychiatric disorders and legal frameworks, is essential for this position. Your ability to work collaboratively will enhance patient care across the Northeast Region of Ontario.
Key Responsibilities:
• Complete mental health assessments and provide treatment
• Work with inter-professional teams to support court-related needs
• Facilitate successful community reintegration of patients
• Engage in conflict resolution and health education
• Ensure safety adherence during all nursing interventions
Requirements:
• Certification in good standing with Ontario College of Nurses
• 2-3 years recent experience with serious mental illness
• Knowledge of relevant forensic legislation required
• G driver’s license and travel necessary within the region
• Strong commitment to patient care and safety
