Northbridge Public Schools is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Home Economics/Culinary Arts Teacher to join our high school team. This is a new elective pathway for the high school, and we are looking for someone to help build the program from the ground up. If you are passionate about teaching and have a proven track record of success with students, we want you!

As a Home Economics/Culinary Arts Teacher, you will provide our students with hands-on experiences and expert instruction in all aspects of home economics and culinary arts. This is a new elective pathway for our high school, so we are seeking a candidate to help build the program from the ground up.

• Lead the implementation of the culinary arts and Family and Consumer Science (FCS) pathway by developing and refining course offerings that integrate culinary techniques, life skills, and consumer education, ensuring a clear progression of skills and aligning with industry standards and certification requirements.
• Instruct and engage students in culinary arts, nutrition, food preparation, meal planning, and kitchen safety, alongside other FCS topics such as personal finance, family dynamics, and consumer decision-making, creating a well-rounded, hands-on learning environment.
• Supervise and manage student activities in the kitchen setting, as well as other FCS labs (e.g., sewing), ensuring proper safety, sanitation, and adherence to health codes.
• Build and maintain community partnerships with local businesses, restaurants, organizations, and industry professionals to provide students with real-world experiences, internships, and job opportunities in both culinary and family and consumer science fields.
• Assess student performance in both culinary and FCS areas through written exams, practical demonstrations, project-based learning, and presentations, providing constructive feedback to support their growth in career readiness and personal development.

• Bachelor's degree in culinary arts, education, or related field
• MA DESE certification in Family and Consumer Sciences
• Previous teaching experience in culinary arts or a related field
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of diverse culinary traditions and cuisines
• Proficiency with kitchen equipment and technology
• Commitment to ongoing professional development
• Ability to effectively communicate home economics/culinary arts knowledge and techniques to students
• Bachelor degree preferred
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
