Senior Quantity Surveyor - Water & Civil Engineering

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 + package DOE
I'm currently working with a well-established and growing civil engineering and utilities contractor who are looking to add a Senior Quantity Surveyor to their commercial team.
The business has a strong and established presence across civil engineering, utilities and the water sector, delivering major infrastructure projects and long-term frameworks.
Their work covers clean water and wastewater infrastructure, mains and pressure pipeline installations, drainage, pumping stations, CSOs, attenuation tanks and associated civil engineering works.
This is a really good opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor who wants to join a business with a strong order book, interesting projects and genuine scope to take ownership of projects and progress their career.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll take commercial responsibility across a range of civil engineering and water projects, working closely with the operational and senior commercial teams.
Your responsibilities will include:

Managing the commercial performance of projects from start through to final account
Cost control, forecasting and monthly CVRs
Subcontract procurement and subcontractor management
Preparing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts
Identifying, pricing and agreeing variations, compensation events and additional works
Managing commercial risk and opportunities
Contract administration and commercial reporting
Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and Site Teams
Supporting tendering and pre-construction activities
Maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
Supporting and mentoring more junior members of the commercial team
I'm looking for someone with a strong civil engineering, utilities or water background who is comfortable taking commercial ownership of projects.
You'll ideally have:

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor

Experience with in civil engineering, utilities, water, infrastructure or construction
Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
Experience working with NEC3 / NEC4 contracts
Experience managing subcontractors, valuations and variations
Good understanding of cost control, forecasting, CVRs and final accounts
Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
A relevant Quantity Surveying / Commercial qualification is desirable
Full UK driving licence
Water industry experience would be advantageous,
