The Billing Specialist assists patients with their billing statements via phone, email, or correspondence. Responsible for collecting patient accounts from insurance companies and working patient accounts through the aging process identified by the computer collection system to ensure effective and timely collection of outstanding accounts. Part of this position will also involve self‑pay collection responsibilities and processing and collecting revenue for the organization.

The hourly wage range for this position is $20.87–$29.46. This range reflects the base salary for this position and is determined based on experience, education, and internal equity considerations.

• Sends, edits, and corrects claims and payer rejections daily, notifying management of problems or trends.
• Processes accounts according to action required to resolve account balances with insurance companies using payer websites, phone calls to insurance companies, and/or patients.
• Responds promptly and professionally to patient inquiries, helping to answer their questions and concerns.
• Resolves payer rejections and denials through the appeal process as required by each payer’s contracting requirements.
• Manages payer correspondence, edits, and aged accounts receivable, identifying and correcting billing errors.
• Prioritizes work queues using the system to ensure prompt resolution and payment on accounts.

• High School diploma or GED.
• 1–2 years of healthcare experience.
• Experience in medical billing (preferred).
• Education in medical billing and/or coding (preferred).

• 80 hours/2 weeks
• Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm
• Onsite in Northfield, MN, with potential for a future hybrid schedule.
