Position Summary
40 Scheduled Hours
Position is responsible for payroll accounting functions in the Department of Surgery (research and non-research) and may assist in preparation of financial and budget reports, forecasts and annual reports. This position is part of the Surgery Research Administration team (15 people).
Job Description PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Completes Payroll Costing Allocations and Payroll Accounting Adjustments in Workday.
- Audits payroll accounting transactions to identify and correct errors.
- Coordinates Effort Certification process.
- Monitors payroll deadlines to ensure that payroll allocations are complete prior to deadlines.
- Completes Budget Adjustments and Journals.
- Assists in collection of data and reporting according to established organizational accounting procedures.
- Utilizes and reports data in organization cost accounting system, involving a variety of spreadsheet and software applications (primarily Excel and Workday).
- Compiles financial, operating and special reports/ studies as directed.
- Prepares/presents analyses of on going and proposed projects/studies, including costing and financial projection models.
- Verifies department accounting record entries, journals and postings.
- Acts as backup for department accounting/purchasing functions as necessary.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
