Position SummaryDevelops and executes strategies for Community Engagement and Co-Curricular Activities to support DBBS PhD programs. Responsible for management and professional development of direct reports.
Job Description PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Working closely with the Director of Curriculum and Programs, leads initiatives to support students in the training environment and rigorously evaluates these efforts.
- Working closely with the Director of Curriculum and Programs and faculty leaders, leads enhancement of the outreach opportunities for the DBBS student body.
- Leads and guides innovative, student-centered and competency-based approaches to co-curricular experiences (e.g., multicultural activities, wellness workshops, leadership journal clubs, student activities and events, student affinity groups and organizations and retention-focused activities).
- Guides assessment of programs and services to verify that co-curricular educational and wellness programs are effective, innovative, proactive, anticipatory and responsive to student and community requirements with periodic evaluations.
- Utilizes analytics and data to design, develop and implement inventive, effective student engagement and retention programs and services.
- Ensures institutional policies, guidelines and practices are aligned with fair and equitable student treatment.
- Confirms all student affairs programs and services follow state and federal laws and University policies.
- Attends and participates in student programming and other campus and leadership activities.
- Working closely with the Director of Curriculum and Programs and the WashU Career Center, leads a program of Career and Professional Development for DBBS students.
- Assists in identifying funding sources appropriate to support co-curricular innovations.
- Represents the interests of diversity, equity & inclusion within DBBS and in partnerships with University-wide executive offices, including School of Medicine Student Affairs, School of Arts and Sciences Office of Graduate Studies and Office of Postdoctoral Affairs.
- In collaboration with the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, DBBS Associate Dean, Executive Director, faculty leaders and other staff directors, develops the strategy and tactics for diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives to ensure alignment with University goals.
- With the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, educates, consults and influences DBBS stakeholders on the implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion programs across the Division and work with cross-functional teams and/or departments to develop programs, initiatives and/or goals for admissions and recruitment, curriculum, training environment and staff work.
- Enhances a supportive academic community for underrepresented minority students and enhances activities increasing underrepresented minority student retention.
- Assists in identifying funding sources appropriate to support diversity, equity and inclusion and co-curricular initiatives; manages resources and when applicable ensures funds are used within granting agency guidelines.
- Working with the Director of Curriculum and Programs, the Director of Admissions, Director of Summer Programs and the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, develops pipeline and early admissions programs to support diversification of the research workforce.
- Enhances and maintains alumni tracking and relations programs.
- Working directly with the Associate Dean and Executive Director, establishes qualitative and quantitative goals and objectives to increase alumni giving and implements a strategic plan to secure those resources through DBBS-driven programs and other alumni fundraising events.
- Fosters positive relationships with graduates, ex-students and parents, keeping them informed of events, activities and programs in the Division.
- Oversees the maintenance of accurate data collection through a customer relationship management (CRM) tool.
- Develops professional networking opportunities for alumni and students.
