Position Summary: Don’t miss this opportunity to join our team at WashU Department of Pediatrics! This Staff Nurse II position supports our outpatient pediatric multi-specialty clinics. This position provides specialized patient care and education for patients receiving treatments, examinations, etc., in a medical office according to established procedures. This is a weekday, daytime position.
Job DescriptionPrimary
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs and documents assessment of the patient/family (biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual and environmental); collects and analyzes data from the medical record in order to coordinate patient care.
- Directs and/or provides patient care, which may include administering medication, performing procedures and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice.
- Provides appropriate counsel and education to patients/family regarding disease process and symptom management.
- Maintains medical records requiring appropriate and timely recording of patient information.
- Consults with members of the health care team, adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Demonstrates cost-effective work habits by setting priorities and properly managing supplies and equipment.
- Assists the health care provider with examinations, procedures, prescription refills and other processes related to direct patient care.
- Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure appropriate clinical outcome.
- Professional contributions, including presentations, preceptorships/mentorships, committee participation, community service, inclusion on research or professional publications or local, regional or national professional organization leadership roles.

Required QualificationsEducation: A diploma, certification or degree is not required.
Certifications: Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross, Registered Nurse - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Registered Nurse - Missouri Division of Professional Registration.
Work Experience: Clinical Specialty (2 Years).
Skills: Not Applicable.
Driver's License: A driver's license is not required for this position.
More About This JobRequired Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Completion of National Specialty Certification relevant to the area where working, if applicable.
- Current Missouri RN licensure in accordance with Compact Act.
- Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).
- Advanced clinical skills (e.g., PALS, ACLS, IV Certification, Bone Marrow Biopsy).
Education: Bachelor's degree - Nursing, M.S.
- Master of Science - Nursing.
Certifications: No additional certification unless stated elsewhere in the job posting.
Work Experience: Nursing (3 Years).
