Join our energetic team at WashU Division of Pediatric Allergy & Pulmonary Medicine! The group consists of 20 attending physicians, 9 fellow physicians, and 6 nurse practitioners. This full‑time, patient‑facing position is in a pediatric outpatient setting.
The role performs pulmonary function testing (PFT) on pediatric patients in the ambulatory clinical setting in accordance with ATS technical standards and guidelines. Testing primarily consists of outpatient PFT and occasional inpatient testing. PFT results are discussed with the medical provider and monitored by the supervisor and medical director of the PFT lab. Additional responsibilities include patient scheduling, billing, annual fit testing, and cleaning, calibration, and quality control of all equipment.
This is a weekday daytime position with no weekend work and 10 university holidays.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain patient privacy at all times.
- Provide patients with clear and accurate information.
- Interact with patients, staff, and physicians to ensure appropriate patient care and effective teamwork.
- Prepare, maintain, and calibrate PFT and lab equipment.
- Collect test samples, perform initial test analysis, and advise staff on findings.
- Perform tests such as spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, methacholine challenge, exercise challenge, cardiopulmonary stress test, and other diagnostic tests according to ATS guidelines.
- Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Assist in billing processes and data entry.
- Schedule patients for PFT appointments.
- Other duties as assigned.

Physical Effort:

Education: Associate degree.
Certifications / Professional Licenses: Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association, Basic Life Support – American Red Cross, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), Respiratory Care Practitioner – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Respiratory Care Practitioner – Missouri Division of Professional Registration.

Driver's License: A driver’s license is not required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications- Prior experience in Pediatric PFT lab.
- Prior experience with MGC Diagnostic Software – Breeze Suite.
- Prior experience with Epic.
- Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Works well as part of a team.
- CPFT or RPFT credentials.
Grade: C12‑H
Salary Range: $29.80 - $46.19 / Hourly. The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
