Position Summary

Scheduled Hours
: 40 hours per week.

The Evers lab is a small, tight‑knit team (5–7 members) that studies sterol modulation of membrane proteins, with a strong focus on neurosteroid modulation of ion channels. The lab uses photoaffinity labeling, proximity labeling coupled with protein mass spectrometry, fluorescent methods to study ligand binding, and cryo‑electron microscopy to explore sterol‑binding proteins and characterize state‑dependent binding and its functional effects.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the PI on the design, conduct, and reporting of research projects.
  • Assist with grant preparation and reporting; may submit grant proposals with PI approval in rare circumstances.
  • Prepare and submit manuscripts on research findings.
  • Develop hypotheses to be tested and design experiments to test them.
  • Comply with established safety procedures and maintain required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
  • Manage research projects in collaboration with other institutions and investigators.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
  • Laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical, and radioactive hazards.
  • Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research animals.
Required Qualifications

Education
:
Ph.D. or terminal degree, or a combination of education and experience may substitute for the minimum education.

Work Experience
:
Postdoctoral experience of at least three years.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with expression and purification of mammalian membrane proteins.
  • Structural biology skills: single‑particle cryo‑EM sample preparation and data analysis.
  • Protein mass spectrometry experience.
Salary

$63,400.00 – $ annually (Grade R12).
