The City of Northglenn is seeking a highly motivated and outgoing Fleet Services Supervisor.

HIRING RANGE - $35.38 - $42.46 / HOUR

Position Highlights:

The Fleet Service Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of the City’s fleet maintenance, repairs, and asset management for all City’s vehicles ranging from tandems, construction equipment, trash trucks, and passenger vehicles. Duties include operating specialized tools and heavy equipment, coordinating daily assignments, and monitoring work quality and compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership abilities, advanced technical knowledge fleet services and the ability to effectively mentor and support team members.

Fleet Service Supervisor is a working leader within Public Works who provides guidance, training, and support to staff while actively performing skilled maintenance and repair tasks. This position helps ensure an engaged, safe, and productive team environment by promoting collaboration and accountability. Fleet Operations and Maintenance:
  • Lead and participate in the inspection, maintenance, servicing, and repair of City vehicles and equipment, including light- and heavy-duty gasoline and diesel-powered units.
  • Coordinate and assign daily/weekly work orders, ensuring completion is safe, efficient, and compliant with City standards.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules by vehicle type to maximize operational time and reduce downtime.
  • Responsible for fleet asset inventory with thorough documentation of work hours, fleet conditions, and materials used.
  • Perform diagnostic analysis using electrical/electronic testing equipment and technical manuals.
  • Conduct safety inspections and recommend corrective measures to improve safety, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Evaluate vehicle condition through inspection, discussions with users, and testing; determine nature and extent of repairs needed.
  • Overhaul, rebuild, or replace components such as engines, drive trains, electrical systems, cooling systems, and brakes using appropriate tools and diagnostic methods.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for fleet capital asset purchasing and recommend fleet asset replacements.
  • Perform fabrication and welding as necessary for equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Review and verify records of work performed, materials used, and parts replaced.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety and regulatory standards.
Heavy Equipment Operation:
  • Safely operate and maintain a variety of heavy and specialized equipment.
  • Assist with the loading, unloading, and transportation of materials and equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections and minor maintenance on heavy equipment to ensure operational safety.
  • Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance on all fleet shop and rolling equipment.
  • Use machinery to assist with field repairs, excavation, and maintenance work.
  • Train other staff on proper equipment use and safety protocols.
