Good to Know Before You Start!
- You may feel like studying for a test initially; gaining strong knowledge of oils and services is important.
- Must maneuver in and out of a shallow 3’ deep pit used for safety under cars.
- Will walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, etc., for extended periods, involving activities like holding, grasping, pulling, and turning.
- May work in hot/cold weather conditions.
- Always stay alert and aware of surroundings.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Reliable transportation is required.
What does an Assistant Shop Manager (ASM) do?
- Check in with customers to ensure a great experience before they leave.
- Assume responsibility and authority of the Shop Manager in their absence.
- Manage the floor, ensuring employees are where they need to be, vehicles are checked, and customers are satisfied.
- Perform opening and closing procedures.
- Assist with inventory counting and adjustments.
- Train and develop team members.
- Set an example for others in the shop.
- Hold team members accountable.
- Perform technician duties such as draining motor oil, changing oil filters, greasing chassis fittings, washing windshields, adjusting tire pressure, inspecting and topping off fluids, assisting customers with service selections, processing payments, performing coolant exchanges, transmission drain & fill services, restocking inventory, and maintaining shop cleanliness.
