Education Volunteer; Explorers - Anderton Boat Lift
More about this role
Being an Explorers Volunteer is a rewarding experience. The role is full of variety, flexibility and a lot of fun! We inspire children and young people about our canals and rivers, using the waterways around Northwich and the stunning Anderton Boat Lift as the setting to build life skills, raise aspirations and connect children with the great outdoors. We give you full training and provide resources for leading sessions for primary schools, Cubs, Scouts, Brownies and Girl Guides groups, both in the classroom or meeting space as well as out and about on our canals.
With a number of training days and team meetings to get you started, our Learning & Skills Co‑ordinator as well as other volunteers in your team will continuously support you.
We are looking for people who can volunteer flexibly and commit to at least 1 full day a month to help our team offer activity for schools and groups. We love to plan ahead but will always aim to give you at least two weeks notice before a visit. Often several sessions will take place in one school or at a waterside location in a day, normally between 9am to 3.30pm.
If you are able to volunteer in the evenings to visit children at their pack or troop nights, we'd love to hear from you too.
You will play an important and influential role in helping children learn about water safety, as well as bringing to life the stories and history of the canals, or helping families spot wildlife and enjoy nature - no day is the same as an Explorers volunteer!
