This role is based at Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College; the country’s leading sixth form college. It is an excellent place to work where colleagues are recognised for their hard work and supported to develop professionally.

We foster a strong ethos of ambition and aspiration in all aspects of college life which means our students are hardworking and extremely well behaved. Our students are supported by dedicated pastoral and learning support teams who have an important role in facilitating our inclusive offer.

Reporting to the Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead you will work as part of our Achievement & Support department to promote the emotional wellbeing of students. The hours available are full time but part-time can be considered.

• Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 4.30pm
• Friday 8.30am – 4pm.

Applicants do not necessarily need to have experience of working in education but should be passionate about the sector. You will join a team of experienced counselling professionals who provide a dedicated counselling service to students. The counselling team work closely with all our pastoral support departments and the safeguarding team.

The successful candidate must have a recognised qualification in counselling and experience of working with children and young people. They must have a warm and compassionate approach with the ability to quickly build rapport with students.

This role follows a college academic calendar and requires onsite attendance from the start of the academic year on GCSE Results Day (third Thursday in August), ending in mid‑July.
