Job purpose

To provide person-centred support to a young autistic woman, enabling her to maintain her independence, access community activities, pursue her interests, and enjoy meaningful social engagement. The Person al Assistant will offer companionship, encouragement, and practical assistance with everyday tasks while promoting choice, dignity, and wellbeing.

The role involves supporting the individual to participate in leisure activities such as swimming, community outings, and other interests, as well as providing occasional assistance with light household tasks and reminders relating to appointments and daily routines. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the individual, respecting her preferences, communication style, and need for involvement in planning and decision‑making.

The Person al Assistant will be proactive, reliable, and understanding, helping to create positive opportunities for social inclusion while fostering a supportive and respectful working relationship.

The role is to support a friendly young woman who enjoys spending time with family, listening to music, watching online content, and participating in community-based activities. She has a good sense of humour and enjoys engaging in activities such as swimming, days out, and spending time with animals.

She values calm, supportive environments and appreciates having choice and involvement in planning her activities and routine. The successful Personal Assistant will be understanding, patient, and able to build a positive working relationship based on trust, respect, and encouragement.

This position is based within a quiet family home with two friendly dogs. The role would suit someone who is proactive, flexible, and able to provide companionship while supporting the individual to lead an independent and fulfilling lifestyle.

Main Duties:

  • Companionship and social support.
  • Supporting access to community activities and outings.
  • Providing transport and attending activities.
  • Assisting with light domestic tasks.
  • Supporting independence and wellbeing.
  • Encouraging participation in hobbies and interests.
  • Providing occasional reminders relating to appointments and daily routines.

Please note: No personal care or manual handling is required as part of this role.

We are seeking a Personal Assistant who is:

  • Enjoy supporting someone to access social, leisure, and community activities.

  • Be a good communicator with a caring and person-centred approach.
  • Hold a full driving licence and have access to their own vehicle with appropriate insurance for business use.

Hours of work: 10 hours per week – after 11am over 2 days.

Rate of pay: £13.50 per hour

Skills, qualifications, and experience
  • Experience in a Personal Assistant or support role.
  • Understanding of autism and neurodiversity.
  • Knowledge of modern technology and online entertainment platforms.
  • Ability to encourage social engagement and community participation.
  • Proactive and enthusiastic approach to supporting activities and outings.
  • Full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Reliable, flexible, and trustworthy.
  • Caring and person-centred approach.
  • Comfortable working around dogs.
  • Willingness to learn and support an individual to live independently.

Successful applicants will require DBS checks & Employment References.

This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
