Position: Employment Support Officer - IPS Project

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the delivery of Individual Placement and Support (IPS) within Drug and Alcohol services – an evidence-based approach designed to support people in recovery to move into meaningful and sustained employment. Bringing together specialist employment support, treatment services, and strong employer engagement, IPS focuses on helping individuals achieve their employment goals as part of their recovery journey, with an emphasis on long-term outcomes and social inclusion.

Our team provides a person-centred, strengths-based approach that begins with understanding the whole individual – their skills, experience, recovery journey, and aspirations. The focus is on supporting individuals to access the right job quickly, followed by tailored, ongoing support for both the individual and the employer to ensure sustainable employment and continued wellbeing.

In this role, you will manage a varied caseload, delivering Individual Placement and Support (IPS) to individuals engaged in Drug and Alcohol services. You will support people in recovery to access and sustain competitive employment, taking a person-centred and strengths-based approach. Working closely with clinical and recovery teams, you will carry out in-depth vocational profiling, develop clear and achievable action plans, and provide practical support with job searching, employer engagement, confidence building, and skills development.

Through proactive case management, you will maintain motivation, respond to changing needs, and ensure wider support requirements are met through effective partnership working, signposting, and integration with treatment services.

You will also play a key role in creating employment opportunities by building strong relationships with local employers, identifying suitable vacancies, and advocating on behalf of individuals to promote inclusive recruitment practices. You will support employers to make reasonable adjustments where needed and provide ongoing in-work support to ensure employment outcomes are sustained.

If you are passionate about supporting people in recovery to achieve their goals, enjoy building relationships, and are committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based employment support, this role offers the opportunity to make a real and lasting difference. You will be helping individuals improve their independence, wellbeing, and social inclusion through meaningful employment, contributing to positive outcomes for individuals, employers, and communities.
