The OpportunityWe are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Norton Shores that are seeking skilled Tool Makers. Key Responsibilities- Fabricate, repair, and modify precision tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
- Operate and maintain various machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
- Interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose tooling malfunctions, implementing effective repair solutions.
- Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist in the design and development of new tooling concepts and prototypes.
- Completion of a recognized Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent formal training.
- Proven proficiency in operating a variety of manual and CNC machining equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, and EDMs.
- Expert ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMMs to verify part conformity.
- Strong understanding of various metals, alloys, and heat treatment processes used in tool manufacturing.
- Proficiency with advanced CAD/CAM software for tool design and simulation.
- Experience with CNC programming, including G-code and conversational programming.
- Background in Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Certification or experience in specialized machining processes like EDM or TIG welding.
