Position Summary:

The Heavy Civil Bridge Superintendent is responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of bridge construction projects, ensuring that work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires expertise in heavy civil and structural bridge construction, including concrete, steel erection, foundations, and related infrastructure. The Superintendent directs field crews and subcontractors, manages daily operations, and collaborates with project managers, engineers, and inspectors to deliver successful outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize, and supervise all field activities on assigned bridge projects.
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, schedules, and budgets.
  • Lead daily safety meetings and enforce company and industry safety standards on-site.
  • Manage and mentor field crews, subcontractors, and foremen, fostering teamwork and accountability.
  • Monitor work progress, quality, and productivity, making adjustments as needed to meet milestones.
  • Review and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications, providing direction to field staff.
  • Oversee site logistics, traffic control, staging, and sequencing of work activities.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, including labor, equipment, and material usage.
  • Coordinate with project managers and engineers to resolve design, constructability, or scheduling issues.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, inspectors, and stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of heavy civil construction experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven expertise in bridge construction, including concrete, structural steel, pile driving, and foundations.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with construction scheduling, reporting, and field documentation tools.
  • Strong commitment to jobsite safety and crew training.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and adapt to changing project conditions.
  • Willingness to travel or relocate as required by project location.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or degree in construction management preferred.
