Senior Health & Benefits Consultant – Mercer

Mercer is looking for an experienced Senior Health & Benefits Consultant to support mid‑market employers in the Northeast. The role is hybrid and can be based at any of our Northeast locations.

As a Senior H&B Consultant you will lead consulting engagements with mid‑market employers to develop and negotiate medical, dental, life and disability benefit plans and programs. You will work collaboratively with clients, vendors and internal teams to secure coverage, manage costs and ensure compliance.

• Lead or participate in routine client engagements, including strategy, financial evaluation, plan design, renewal, business placement and benchmarking.
• Develop cost projections, evaluate vendor renewal workups and provide high level financial, contract and administrative analysis.
• Analyze claims and utilization data to identify trends, develop self‑funded claims projections and model employee cost‑sharing scenarios using Mercer internal tools.
• Review compliance, client disclosure requirements, external vendor contracts, summary plan documents (SPDs) and employee communications to ensure alignment with client expectations and legal requirements.
• Manage day‑to‑day client contact, resolve project‑related questions and guide junior staff in client interactions.

• BA/BS degree.
• 7+ years of experience designing, recommending and implementing innovative business solutions for complex health care benefit challenges.
• Renowned expertise and industry reputation in the health & benefits field.
• Strong analytical, strategic planning, communication and listening skills.
• Self‑starter able to collaborate and lead teams to deliver project objectives.

Competitive total rewards package including health and welfare benefits, tuition assistance, 401(k) savings and other retirement programs. Base salary range: $88,000 to $176,000.
