ESL Non‑credit education assistant will advise and register ESL Non‑credit students; prepare, read, and evaluate writing tests; help with course materials and other program logistics; provide support services by phone, email, and in‑person.
Job Duties- Advise new and returning students, including international students and Au Pairs – ascertain ESL level and needs, explain course eligibility, help select classes, assist with registration, answer program questions.
- Read placement tests and final exams to determine ESL level.
- Prepare for and assist with final exams, including essay test questions, reading meetings, and coordination of grades.
- Assist with program logistics such as evaluating textbooks, developing curriculum, drafting outcomes and assessments, observing instructors, providing Bridge to Credit tutoring, answering phone and email inquiries from instructors and students.
- Guide and support teachers with methodology and technology.
- Master’s degree in TESOL or a related subject, or equivalent education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in:
- Office administration, including phone and in‑person student contact.
- Computer skills:
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams). - Teaching English as a Second Language to Beginner and Intermediate students.
- Communication with a diverse student population.
- Fluency in Spanish and English.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as Banner student information system.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard.
- Experience in a community college learning environment and with adult learners.
$39.44 per hour.
