DESCRIPTIONThe Norwalk Conservatory is seeking a dynamic and experienced Youth & Performing Arts Programming Manager to design, implement, and oversee youth-focused programs rooted in the performing arts.
The ideal candidate is a creative leader with hands-on experience in arts education and a strong background in theater, dance, music, or interdisciplinary performing arts.
The Youth & Performing Arts Programming Manager will be responsible for building and running engaging programs, supervising teaching artists, and ensuring programs align with the Conservatory’s artistic mission and community partnerships.
Key Responsibilities Program Design & Implementation- Design, develop, and lead year-round youth programming (e.g., classes, workshops, camps, residencies, after‑school programs, and intensives).
- Integrate performing arts disciplines into age‑appropriate, inclusive curricula.
- Ensure programs support artistic growth, social‑emotional development, and youth voice.
- Oversee day‑to‑day operations of youth programs, including scheduling, enrollment, budgeting, and logistics.
- Recruit, train, and supervise teaching artists and program staff.
- Establish program goals, evaluation metrics, and continuous improvement practices.
- Build and maintain partnerships with schools, community organizations, and families.
- Serve as a key ambassador for youth programming within the community.
- Support outreach and recruitment efforts to ensure broad and equitable participation.
- Collaborate with artistic, education, and administrative teams to align youth programs with organizational priorities.
- Support performances, showcases, or culminating events featuring youth participants.
- Contribute to grant reporting, program documentation, and storytelling.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of (2) years of experience creating and leading youth programming.
- Professional background in the performing arts (theater, dance, music, or related field).
- Experience working with teaching artists, educators, or facilitators.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and youth‑centered practices.
- Experience in arts education or youth development within a nonprofit or cultural organization.
- Familiarity with school‑based or community‑based programming models.
- Experience managing budgets and program evaluation.
- Teaching artist or directing experience.
- This position may include evenings and weekends based on program schedules.
- Combination of office, rehearsal, and community‑based work.
Salary range: [$55,000–$70,000], commensurate with experience.
