Location: Lower Fairfield County, CT
Salary: $50,000 to $60,000
Reports to: Director of Education & Outreach
For nearly 50 years, The Rowan Center has worked to prevent sexual violence and other trauma, respond when harm occurs, and support adult and youth survivors as they heal. We serve Lower Fairfield County, and every one of our services is free and confidential. That work takes many forms. We run a 24/7 helpline and provide crisis counseling, advocacy, support groups, and long-term trauma therapy.
Our prevention educators reach more than 25,000 students a year. And our advocates partner with families, schools, healthcare providers, and law enforcement across the region. We also operate the Trauma Recovery Practice, a statewide outpatient mental health program offering evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy (including EMDR) to adults across Connecticut who have experienced any form of trauma. KidSafeHQ is our statewide digital safety platform.
It gives parents and caregivers practical tools to protect children from online and offline harm, from sextortion and grooming to cyberbullying, deepfakes, and digital exploitation, drawing on expert insight, local law enforcement guidance, and trusted resources.
We’re looking for a Bilingual Community Educator who can walk into a kindergarten classroom, a parent workshop, or a police training and teach with confidence in both English and Spanish.
You’ll report to the Director of Education & Outreach and deliver engaging, evidence-informed programs across Lower Fairfield County on sexual violence prevention, healthy relationships, consent, child safety, and emerging online risks. Just as important, you’ll be a bridge to Spanish-speaking families and communities, bringing culturally responsive education and making sure people know our services are there for them. The role also helps grow KidSafeHQ through bilingual outreach, parent education, and public awareness work.
And like everyone on our team, you’ll complete crisis counselor training and support survivors directly through helpline coverage and advocacy, including in Spanish when needed.
