Job Description

This person will be based at a specialty chemical manufacturing facility consisting of about 200 people and will work in a group of 11 engineers that have primary responsibility for leading and managing capital projects, including expansions projects, process improvement projects and infrastructure projects. This person will work on projects with budgets anywhere from thousands to millions and will be responsible for complete design through installation of the projects including sizing and specifying of equipment and materials of construction, heat and mass balances, cost estimates, preparing preliminary and final P&’s, vendor selection, purchasing of equipment, oversight of construction and debugging of unit.

This person will also be responsible for training of operators, updating ECN changes, HAZOP reviews and assisting on scale-up of new products. The processing equipment on-site includes reactors, controls, distillation columns (batch & continuous), evaporation, filtration and extraction. On site they have shift chemical engineers who cover shifts 24/5, R&D, Tech Service and sales. Relocation assistance is available – this company has a gym facility on-site and caters lunches for employees on a regular basis.

The role is open due to retirements and the need to deepen the bench in this particular area.

Minimum Requirements
  • B.S. Chemical Engineering required
  • 6+ years of post-college industry experience out of continuous chemicals, specialty chemicals, petrochemicals, or some closely related industry
  • Candidates must have previous experience working for an operating company and should have experience with process design, heat and mass balances, process simulation, putting together preliminary and/or final P&’s, and equipment sizing
  • Pluses would be selection of equipment, vendor contact, and overseeing installation and start-up. Candidates could be a plant engineer, a development engineer or a project engineer with the above skills and some ties to the Northeast
  • Will consider folks with EPC backgrounds - no sponsorship is available.
