Shifts and Compensation
40 Hours - Day/Eve rotating shifts
Hours:
7:00 to 3:30, 9:30 to 6:00 pm. or 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Rate: 21.00 to 27.30 based on years of experience.
SummaryThe Pharmacy Technician 2 will assist pharmacists in the formulation, preparation, dispensing, delivery and storage of medications and pharmaceutical supplies. The pharmacy technician will ensure that products and services are provided in timely, safe and cost effective manner according to department policies, procedures, and practice standards supporting both inpatient and outpatient services within Nuvance Health.
Responsibilities- Handle, pull, label, package, compound, and deliver medications to patient or authorized personnel as instructed by pharmacist.
- Help maintain medication and supply inventory.
- Identify, pull, and dispose of expired medications as needed.
- Clerical duties such as filing, data entry, printer management.
- Maintain compliance with all state, federal, and regulatory requirements, such as completing and reviewing audits such as managing temp logs, cleaning logs, unit inspections, etc.
- Manage automated dispensing cabinets (ADC) inventory by utilizing reports from main console and troubleshooting minor technical issues.
- Refilling and managing expiration dates of code carts, kits, medication trays etc.
- Handle and deliver controlled medications by following all state & federal regulations and departmental policies.
- Triage phone calls and transfer calls to pharmacist for any medication related questions.
- Navigate electronic medical record (EMR) as it relates to missing medications and charges/billing.
- Understanding the identification, handling and storage of hazardous medications (USP
800, NIOSH, OSHA, and departmental policy). - Comply with all USP 795 and USP 797 requirements in the compounding of sterile and nonsterile products by following all departmental policies & procedures involving technique, training, testing, and personal hygiene.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum Experience:
none - PTCB Certification (active)
- Registered Pharmacy Technician (active & in good standing)
- CT Department of Consumer Protection for those working in CT
- NY Board of Pharmacy for those working in NY
Pharmacy Technician experience. Computer skills, ability to multi-task and work independently.
