ResponsibilitiesFollow ALARA principles and scan patient with appropriate exposure and minimal repeatability, noting all repeat/rejected images in the appropriate manner. Always wear personal radiation badge(s) to track exposure, utilize bismuth or lead shielding per established protocols, and monitor CTDI Volume to ensure appropriate dose.
Complete appropriate screening before entry into Zone 3 of MRI Department and clear safety issues by following departmental policies and obtaining pertinent/applicable documentation.
Use hearing protection, cushions for safety/comfort, emergency call button, and communicate with the patient throughout the exam. Perform required post‑processing and/or transfer appropriate images to dedicated workstations. Ensure prior exams and reports are available for comparison. Annotate contrast administered/amount then verify images in PACS.
Select correct patient and update necessary clinical history. Enter pertinent notes relating to present exam and indicate the reason for exam/location of concern. Resolve prior examinations accurately. Indicate when shielding was utilized.
Respond immediately in the event of a quench to evacuate patients and staff from harm.
