Description

Provide assistance to the Perinatologist in gathering data, operate diagnostic ultrasound equipment, and obtain diagnostic quality images of the female pelvic organs, uterus and fetus. Maintain all necessary supplies and equipment for the Antenatal Diagnostic Testing Unit.

Responsibilities

• Maintain full working knowledge of ultrasound techniques and anatomy in obstetrical & gynecological patients. Perform initial evaluation of fetal anatomy, biometric measurements and fetal activity.
• Assist Perinatologist with scanning: explain procedure to patient, demonstrate normal anatomy and relay findings, discuss results, interpret findings and present to doctor.
• Assist Perinatologist with amniocentesis: explain procedure and forms, set up equipment, assist needle insertion with ultrasound guidance, explain post‑amniocentesis restrictions.
• Evaluate and maintain equipment and materials: maintain inventory of supplies, linens, instrument trays for ultrasounds, amniocentesis and gynecological examinations.
• Continuing education: attend programs, maintain and update educational records, maintain teaching tapes for ultrasound cases, assist in orientation and training of radiology residents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Education & Experience

• HS Graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in performing ultrasound; at least 1 year in OB ultrasound preferred.
• American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) registration required within 1 year.
