Provides exceptional patient care in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other physicians to deliver anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures. Maintains a patient-centric environment that addresses the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and functional needs of the patient and family. Serves as the focal professional for continuity of care within scope of practice and applicable standards.
A call CRNA is part of a core team providing timely anesthetic and emergency care in a 24/7 model. This full-time position is distinguished from non-call CRNAs by a regular, patterned schedule and includes in-house call responsibilities, off-shifts, weekends, and holidays. A call CRNA possesses excellent clinical skills, a commitment to patient safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
A call CRNA is eligible for the call compensation program.
Schedule Requirements - Availability to work off-shifts, weekends, and holidays as part of the restricted in-house call rotation in partnership with other core team members. Willingness to respond to emergency calls and provide anesthesia services within the hospital setting. 90 days' notice is requested when transitioning or resigning from the call team.
Responsibilities- 1. Clinical Care
- The CRNA implements accurate, safe, patient-centric anesthetic care.
- 2. Professional Skill
- Understands physiologic implications and anesthetic considerations of surgical procedures; continuously monitors vital signs, capnography, and pulse oximetry during anesthesia according to ASA guidelines.
- 3. Information Management
- Ensures appropriate documentation within hospital and regulatory requirements and protects information in all forms from unauthorized access, modification, destruction, or disclosure.
- 4. Quality Management
- Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care.
- 5. Professional Development
- Continuously engages in projects that maintain and advance professional competency.
Education – Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist; completion of a CRNA training program; graduate of an American Association of Nurse Anesthetists accredited program. Current Connecticut APRN license and RN licensure.
Experience – Prefer clinical CRNA experience in the given specialty/service line, but none required. APPs and physicians must be appointed and credentialed through the hospital medical staff process; evidence of current competence via references will be obtained during credentialing.
Licensure – AANA Certification;
Connecticut RN and APRN licensure; ACLS; DEA and CT Controlled Substance Registration.
Special Skills – Ability to maintain concentration, communicate clearly with surgeons, teams, and patients; calm under pressure; flexible and adaptable to changing environments.
Physical Demands – Demonstrates required cognitive and physical abilities to perform anesthesia care, including observation, communication, motor function, and the ability to stand for extended periods; ability to lift and move patients as needed; ability to work in a clinical environment with potential exposure to risks.
