Distribution Operator 1- 1st Shift 7AM-7PM (12‑Hour Shifts, 2‑2‑3 Schedule)
Join the Michael Foods team as a Distribution Operator for the 1st Shift (7AM-7PM), operating on a 12‑hour shift with a 2‑2‑3 schedule.
Location DescriptionMichael Foods, Inc. is located in Norwalk, Iowa, a suburb in the Des Moines metropolitan area. The facility produces high‑quality precooked egg patties and various French Toast products.
Responsibilities- Operate forklifts and other industrial vehicles to move materials to and from proper storage areas in a frozen warehouse environment.
- Maintain compliance with Safety work rules and reinforce Safety as a Core Value.
- Ensure all policies, procedures and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed.
- Follow company Power Industrial Truck Policy and Procedures; conduct inspections and dock inspections safely.
- Ship and receive products damage‑free, completing quality reassurance checks.
- Complete all documents and paperwork accurately.
- Fill customer orders accurately following special instructions.
- Work closely with office staff to resolve discrepancies and issues.
- Keep the warehouse organized, clean, and pallets off the floor in bins.
- Promote teamwork and positive communication within and between teams.
- Assume personal responsibility for a safe and healthy workplace, adhering to all safety policies.
- Adhere to GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and report any conditions that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Certification is preferred but not required at hire; all operators receive MFI‑approved P.I.T. training/certification at start of employment.
- Effective reading, writing, and speaking in English.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Ability to analyze situations and make decisions that benefit the company while safeguarding employee health and well‑being.
- High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of six months experience in a palletized warehouse environment preferred.
- Good interpersonal skills.
