Job Overview:
The MS Head Volleyball Coach will lead the school’s volleyball program, fostering athletic and personal development while ensuring adherence to district policies.
- Instruct athletes regarding techniques, rules and safety practices of the sport.
- Develop and organize the practice program.
- Schedule and conduct practices according to agreed‑upon schedules.
- Supervise athletes from the beginning of practice or game until all participants leave, ensuring the whereabouts of all athletes at all times.
- Supervise athletes on buses during trips to other schools.
- Promote the entire Norwalk Athletics program.
- Set an example of the highest ethical and moral conduct, respecting and supporting contest officials.
- Foster among participants and spectators an appreciation of the values of athletics, an attitude of good sportsmanship, and a sense of pride in self, team, school, and community.
- Promote a healthy lifestyle to student athletes.
- Assist the head coach and athletic director in preparing and maintaining lists of all players eligible for contests, under Norwalk CSD rules.
- Ensure all athletes complete required documentation, including medical insurance coverage forms and necessary medical examinations, before the regular practice season.
- Communicate with parents regarding team rules and athletic department guidelines.
- Know and understand the Norwalk Athletic Department rules and regulations.
- Adhere to all safety laws and district policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and coworkers.
- Ability to engage in self‑evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
- Coaching authorization or license required.
Physical requirements vary by individual job assignment but require a minimum of the following: walking, standing, bending, carrying, climbing, lifting minimum of 20 pounds, driving, pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, and stooping.
