Job Summary

South Shore Charter Public School (SSCPS) is dedicated to inspiring students to excel in academics, service, and life. Our curriculum emphasizes literacy in language and mathematics, with rigorous standards and differentiated instruction for all learners. Founded in 1995, SSCPS serves 1,165 students from over 31 communities along the South Shore, offering a diverse and inclusive environment.

Salary and Benefits

Base pay range: $56,059 – $102,687 per year. Salary is based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include paid sick and personal time off, health and dental coverage (70%/50% employer cost), Health Reimbursement Account, disability coverage, Employee Assistance Plan, flexible medical and dependent care plans, life/vision insurance, 403(b) plans, tuition reimbursement ($2,000 annually), classroom supply stipend ($200), and professional development stipend ($300).

Job Functions
  • Supports the school’s philosophy, mission, and projects.
  • Plans, prepares, organizes, and delivers student learning experiences.
  • Motivates, guides, and directs students in study skills, social‑emotional learning, and academic learning.
  • Proposes and helps implement new ideas and evaluates existing ones.
  • Engages in continuous professional development.
  • Meets all Massachusetts Department credentials requirements for teaching in a public charter school.
Professional Expectations
  • Available for all assignments by 7:45 a.m. and remain in the building until 3:30 p.m.; sign out if leaving early.
  • Follow “Calling in Absent” policy and notify the Principal’s Administrative Assistant when absent.
  • Provide assignments on Google Classroom or suitable substitute materials.
  • Be in attendance 2–3 days prior to school opening and on call five days after exams.
  • Follow the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and grade‑level curriculum.
  • Maintain professional dress code and conduct.
  • Attend faculty meetings, parent‑teacher conferences, professional development, open houses, and graduation events.
  • Engage in supervisory duties (recess/lunch, arrival/dismissal, hallway/bathroom, etc.).
  • Chaperone or assist with at least one extracurricular event annually.
  • Maintain records of grades, attendance, and conduct, and prepare progress reports on time.
  • Take attendance and report instantly any missing student; document attendance.
  • Prepare substitute packets or Google Classroom posts for unexpected absences.
  • Lead or co‑lead a project or workshop aligned with the school’s mission.
  • Handle student behavior incidents with appropriate procedures.
  • Obtain approved field‑trip permission slips and coordinate with administrators.
