THE POSITION

The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is now hiring for a Clinical Social Worker to join their team.

Please note:

you must be licensed as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Connecticut. As a key member of our multidisciplinary staff, you’ll provide individual and group therapy, collaborate on psychiatric evaluations, and support clients through trauma-informed care. Our experienced team uses a variety of evidence-based approaches—including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)—to guide individuals toward healing and recovery.

DISCOVER THE OPPORTUNITY TO

  • Provide clinical services to individuals as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team in an outpatient mental health setting;
  • Provide clinical treatment services in the form of triage, crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, with family therapy as needed;
  • Complete psychosocial assessments, risk assessments, and other intake documents;
  • Develop comprehensive recovery-oriented, person-centered treatment plans including measurable objectives;
  • Document client contacts and treatment in accordance with agency policies, and coordinate services including referrals to other community providers;
  • Provide treatment utilizing evidence-based practices such as DBT, Trauma, EMDR, IDDT, and Motivational Interviewing;
  • Utilize an electronic record and meet monthly direct service productivity requirements; and
  • Attend required staff, supervision and treatment team meetings.

SMHA is a community mental health agency operated by the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS).

Its primary goal is to provide high quality behavioral health services to those in our community with mental health and substance use disorders who are 18 years or older and reside in New London County and its surrounding towns. Services, which include case management, outpatient behavioral health, crisis intervention, respite care, and forensic services, are recovery oriented and offered in a trauma informed and culturally sensitive manner.

We support individuals to identify and achieve their own goals in recovery, fostering independence, dignity, and ability.
