Location: Backus Hospital (10309).
Shift: Monday - Friday. Options include four 10‑hour shifts from 2:00 pm – 12:30 am or five 8‑hour shifts from 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm.

Job Summary

The Assistant Nurse Manager in the Psychiatric Inpatient and Emergency Department functions as the clinical expert and leadership role model for registered nurses and all staff under supervision. Working closely with emergency and inpatient behavioral health teams, the manager directs workflow to ensure safe, efficient patient movement, assigns patient care activities, monitors staffing performance, and addresses challenging situations while exemplifying Hartford Health Care Core Values.

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field, or qualified candidate completing requirement within six months of hire. Master’s in health or business preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum two years RN experience in psychiatric behavioral health unit (three+ years preferred).
  • Minimum six months Charge Nurse or supervisory experience (twelve months preferred). Leadership experience preferred.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
  • Current Connecticut RN license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Other department-specific certifications as required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
