Assistant Nurse Manager (RN) – CCU

Join Hartford Health Care to manage clinical care at Backus Hospital (10239) in the 4‑bed Cardiac Care Unit. The Assistant Nurse Manager supervises patient care, clinical personnel and unit operations to ensure high‑quality, cost‑effective, patient‑family centered care aligned with the hospital’s strategic plan.

Location Detail

Backus Hospital (10309) – the primary trauma center in New London and Windham counties.

Job Summary

Supervise a work group of nursing and non‑licensed staff, oversee daily operations, manage resources, quality improvement, payroll and scheduling, and monitor patient throughput. Provide a safe and therapeutic unit environment and, when needed, serve as a staff RN. Collaborate with functional leadership, foster professional development, and lead performance‑improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required;
    Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of Critical Care RN experience required; one year of supervisory experience preferred.
Licensure, Certification & Registration
  • Current Connecticut Registered Nurse license
  • BLS certification
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ACLS within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to obtain and maintain department‑specific certifications as required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Principles and practices of nursing and healthcare administration
  • Clinical assessment and safe care implementation within a collaborative health team
  • Regulatory requirements from federal, state and other bodies
  • Effective workforce utilization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
